I just got a membership at Oakridge Gym and it is sweat! I work out everyday at least an hour. the place is huge with a 7200 square ft. gym, racket ball courts, tennis courts, and pool. Somehow working out is so much funner at a gym. I don't know why that is, do you? So tomorrow, Tuesday, and Thursday I get out of school at 12:30 for state testing! This is good so I can get to the gym with nobody there except for the old guys who are retired and have no jobs!!!! This is great! I have the whole gym to myself. To make everything even better, I got my report card that was straight A's (again)!!!!! And to finish it off, only 1 month and 13 days of school left and Mrs. Robinson (unfortunately my science teacher). So I just want to say life is good.

My New Favorite Sport Awakened

Lately I have been trying to find a new favorite sport. Baseball I have kind of grown out of and I believe I've got it! The new sport is... drum roll please. Basketball!!!!!!! Now, I play it everyday and have gotten pretty good! (if I don't say so myself). My friend Erik has been a good supporter of me and has practiced with me everyday. Today, we went to the Park and Rec Center to play some bball. Well we got there thinking we would just shoot some hoops when 3 kids asked if we would like to play them. So I decided Erik and I could take on the 3 of them. We played the first game winning 21 to 10. I don't know if I got lucky draining 3's or I just aren't that bad! And my friend Erik (really short probably barely 5 foot even) drove it in for some lay-ups! Then next game we lost 19 to 21.

And finally, the last game we beat them 17 to 21. After our 2nd win they decided they had to go. I was pretty happy with myself for it. I don't know, maybe they just weren't good or I am just getting better! Now I'm going to go back a few hours to tell you something I forgot to mention before our victory. Again, with my friend Erik we went to the Adidas store. There, I got some awesome basketball shoes for only $20 when originally $60. And after, I discovered a Lakers shirt for $5 which I immediately snatched up. So I left the store happy with some basketball shoes, a Lakers shirt and $25 left, Which my Dad suggested should go to the bank, so it did :(. And now, I have to finish a medieval shield for a history project (the coolest project that could ever be assigned!!!! (Except for a sword which couldn't be brought to school. If only we could learn more about swords and battle axes in history!!!!). Stay tuned and maybe next blog entry there will be a picture of my awesome shield.

Just My Luck

Its been a while since I've written a post. And I have a perfectly good reason for that! No wait, I don't. To tell you the truth, I just haven't had anything interesting to write about. Maybe my music will inspire me as I write (Viva La Vida by Coldplay to be exact). Well Saturday I had a basketball game. I don't know if I told you but our team won our church ball championship and moved onto Thousand Oaks. So I turned up for my game pumped up and ready to play. Turns out it was a forfeit! The team had just found out that day they were playing and weren't able to get enough players to play. That wasn't going to stop us from playing when we came clear to Thousand Oaks! (which is like a 30 minute drive). So a couple people who were there to watch played including some of our players.

I started out on the bench until a couple of minutes when I was put in. I got multiple chances to make a shot but missed every time! Finally, I got the ball and fast breaked down the court making the lay-up!!!! The only problem with this was the game didn't count! This seems to happen to me every time I make a basket!!! This really fries me! After my game I ate dinner got a hair cut and finished my book the Boy Who Dared. This was a really good book and I totally suggest it. After all this, my best friend and next door neighbor Erik invited me to watch Kung Fu Panda. The first quarter was very good until I fell asleep of exhaustion from a long day.

Yessss!!!!!

Yesssss!!!!!(as Napoleon Dynamite would say). Yesterday we had a basketball game for church. I went for the game ready to play. I felt good about today as I warmed up. To tell you the truth I was draining three's (not that I would try to make one in the actual game!). We started the game (me on the bench) and they were off. The game wasn't going good for us, we were down by at least 5 points. Finally I was put in. Although, I did nothing for the team. All I did was run up and down the court. The half-time buzzer blew and I was out.

With 3 minutes to go, all the older boy's were taken out and all 12-14 year old's were on the court. This was a surprise because all of these players were about 5 foot to 5 foot 3 inches. With the exception of me who is 5 foot 9. We went up and down the court not doing so well when the ball was passed to me. I faked the shot and dribbled around for the shot. Suspense, would it go in? Yes!!!!!!! It was a swish!!!!!!!!! The crowd went wild (not really). The team did tho; this was my first basket of the season. This is an accomplishment me because I am really not good at basketball. Although, I do enjoy playing.

Even though I had a triumph, it wasn't a triumph for the whole team. In the end we lost. However, the game didn't matter at all. It turned out, the other team was a forfeit. Apparently the other team had a player who played for Royal High School. The rules clearly state that no players for church ball can play on a school team. Next week we have the championship.

The rest of my day was pretty dull. Except, my sister Miriam took me for a slurpee (which was very generous of her). After my treat, I did HW and washed cars. Washing cars wasn't to bad considering I got payed. Once I finished all that the rest of the day wasn't bad. Miriam and I watched School of Rock and had Panda Express. And to kick it off, we watched the Karate Kid. I have to say this weekend was pretty sweet!

Video Game Night

Well the night finally came. The Video Game Night the night I had been waiting for for month! Just my luck that week everyone in my family was sick with the flew. It all happened when my brother David brought the plague to our home. Everyday I ran away from the sicky's trying to stay uncontaminated so I could go to the party Friday. Everyday I was successful and then came Friday. I was feeling a little bit sick but wasn't just about to not go to the video game night just for that!

I got to the party where I kicked it off going on the trampoline. After my jumping, I had some of our leaders famous venison that he hunts and cooks himself. Once we had our manly dinner, the boys had a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament where I came to the finals which I lost in a heartbeat. Next came the Halo where first we just started warming up (it was my first time ever playing the game). I did miserably at first and last to tell you the truth. Now came the real competition. I started off the bracket facing Christian Hunt one of my friends and a video game attic. You know, to tell you the truth at that party I discovered a lot of video game attics. Now that I think of it almost all the boys in my ward for church are video game attics! Back to what I was saying, I grabbed the controller and was prowling around searching for christian and then all of a sudden fire was upon me! I turned around just in enough time to see Christian finish me off. This process repeated several times. I guess I'm just video game challenged!

After my terrible defeat at Halo I received a consolation of a cup of ice cream. I would rather have ice cream than video games! Maybe one day I will win a game of Halo! Not! I don't think it will ever happen as long as I'm versing anybody in my ward! Although, I have to say I am pretty good at Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Can't wait till the next video game night! Thank you for reading.

Happy V-Day!!!!!!!!

It's Valentine's Day and it has been a good one! It started being great last night. First, Miriam (My sister) and I went and "heart attacked" my grandpa's house. A "heart attack" is when you cut up a bunch of paper hearts and stick them on someones house. So Miriam and I went at 10:30 and put them all over his door. Some of them said fax me!, or your secret admirer. Those are the only ones I can remember. Although, my Grandpa can tell you everyone of them because I know positively that he read every single one of them. After the "heart attack", I watched Gladiator (the edited version) with my brother Walt. It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, I woke up at 6:30 fed my friends dog while they are away and then we went to breakfast. We went to Eggs and Things (which was delicious!!!!!). I had Cinnamon Roll French Toast. After my yummy breakfast we went over to my Grandpa's house to see if he saw the "heart attack". And he did and loved it! After a nice visit with him we went home. At home I went to the Dollar Store and bought a powerade for my game. After my trip to the store I went to my basketball.

I was warming up at my game thinking I wonder if I'm going to score a basket? It was my time to fulfill my destiny and make a basket!!!!!!!! The game buzzer went off. I took my usual place on the bench at the start of the game (sometimes I start but mostly I play in the middle of the game.) I watched them rebound shoot and run. Finally I was sent in. Although I didn't score a basket I came so close (just like I do every game). Also, I did a lot of good defencing and rebounding. After I got out of the game I watched as it got even more intense. As it drew near the end of the game the tensions were high. Tied 27 to 27, the other team made a couple three's and was in the lead. We needed to get some points.

To get the ball fast we needed to foul someone bad so they would shoot and miss therefore we would get the ball and score. So, this little kid on the court was running when a kid on our team grabbed him to foul him. He went the free throw line and shot. He made it!!!!!! Our plan back fired. With a couple seconds left, we were on fire. We tied it up and went into OT (over time). In over time the same thing happened. The other team kept on making there shots. With 2 seconds left on the clock we got the ball. Even if we did make the 3 we would lose by a couple points. The buzzer buzzed and we didn't make the 3. Our undefeated streak was gone. Oh well, we can't win them all right? To cheer me up, I got my report card where I got straight A's!!!!!! I have had straight A's ever for 2 years straight except for one measly B in sign language. In my defence, MR. Katz (the teacher) didn't give any A's out at all! I didn't meet one person that got an A in his class. Overall it was a good day and I have to finish watching the slam dunk contest.

Congrats Miriam!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to dedicate this post to my sister Miriam. She has been studying night and day everyday for over a month to study for her nursing test. Every day I came home from school she was in her room laboring away. This Monday, she took the test. This test was very complex. If you get a question right, it gets harder. The test turns off once it knows you have passed the test or failed. 75 was the lowest it could turn off (which meant you either did really well or horribly). 200 something was the limit it would keep on going. When she got home from the test, she said that it stopped at 75. So we figured that she did excellent or terrible. The results take a while to come up. Miriam left the test nerve racking.

Well today she got her results. Unfortunately she didn't pass. Miriam said she will study even harder this time. Not!!!!!!!!! She actually did pass (I think with flying colors). I wish Miriam the best of luck. I know that she will easily find a job and that every person she interviews with will know she's the one for the job! Once again, good luck Miriam!

A Random Post

I can't think of what to write so I am just going to write whatever comes to mind. Today is a rainy day and it has been pretty good. At school in Social Studies we are learning about China. My teacher Ms. Schatz (pronounced Shots) decided to have us write a story using Chinese characters. We had the real deal. She got all of the things from China town. She had ink in a dish, brushes, Chinese hats, and rice paper. It was pretty fun!

After that, I had math where I found out that I have the highest grade in the class, and an A+. English was pretty good, exploratory was pretty good, and science was really easy, we just watched a Bill Nigh the science guy movie. The downside to this rainy day was I couldn't be outside for P.E. or lunch. Although, I did get to play basketball in the gym. Lunch was pretty boring but hey, it's for eating right?

After school I walked to the car where Mom couldn't believe that I went to school without a sweatshirt. To tell you the truth, I was perfectly fine going to school in a t-shirt and shorts. I have worn this the entire year. I guess it is kind of a pride thing. To make the day even better, I had no homework!!!!!!!!!!! This has been the 2nd, the 2nd! time I haven't had homework. Can you believe that!? I thought I was lucky to have one day. When I went home I had some hot chocolate and gram crackers (my usual snack). Once done with my snack, I watched my new favorite show Hogan's Heroes. I never realized how awesome of a show it was. Surprisingly it's really funny. I also enjoy it because I like learning about World War 2 (even though it is fictional).

I guess I could title this a great day but to late. Now I have to go finish watching the Lakers game and Count of Monte Cristo (this is my first time watching it!). Thanks for reading.

Back To School

Well it's back to school for me. To tell you the truth I am sort of glad. All I did over my 4 day weekend is lay around the house. All my friends were gone on trips or couldn't hang out. Although, Wednesday I did have a friend over, but that was it. Really I would have rather been in school doing something productive than sitting there. I didn't even get to sleep in! I had to take care of Buster my best friends' dog. Leading to that, since I had to wake up at 6:30, I fell asleep at an early hour.

The good thing is it's a new semester and a fresh start at school (not that I need one). A new semester means a new exploratory teacher! Today is Sunday and I am having a pretty good day. I've done my fast offerings and have another hour and fifteen minutes to finish this post. It is a beautiful day out today and I wish I could sit out there all day! I also earned the money for my sword!!!!!!! If you didn't read my posts before this I am talking about a sword I got from China town.

Another really fun thing we have been doing in P.E. is playing ultimate Frisbee. Our team has dominated every team we have played. I never realized how fun it was until I started playing. I can't wait to play some more this week!

Going back to my break, Saturday wasn't to bad. I washed my mom's car. Then it was boring for a little bit until I went to my basketball game. We won and I got to play a lot. I got a lot of rebounds and almost 2 shots. This may not be a very good game but it is for me. Even though I am really tall, I'm just not good at it. Even if not good I still enjoy playing. Our next game is Saturday at 2:30! Thanks for reading.

A Combination of a Great and Bad Day

I know I already wrote and entry this week but I have nothing to do so here it goes. Yessssss! (as kip would say). This week was great! It was the end of the semester and I have 4 days off away from worries and school. And the best part about that is I have no homework. I never thought I would here those words in the same sentence. Another great part about it is I am getting report cards in the mail and I am getting straight A's.

Although, I have to say Wednesday was my last and worst day. It was fine all the way up to after Lunch. In P.E. it was hot, windy, dry, and we just had to run the mile! Dang it!I was hoping for a field day or free play on the basketball court. After my great run (not) I went to computers. I was hoping for a game day. Every Friday we have a game day when we play computer games. But no, we had to work. That discouraged me a little but I just went on to work. When all of a sudden a dumb stupid kid named Christian had to write all over my arms with his pen. Then he changed my password to do my work on the computer so I did nothing the whole period except for getting more tict and trying to find out what the password was he switched it to. I really wanted to just sock him (which I could have done if I really wanted to0 but I thought what Mom would say, a teacher was in the room, I would get suspended, and what Jesus would do or say. This kid probably did it to because he has no friends and nobody likes him. Even though he was mean to me I should still be nice to him, Although, it will be very hard!

This was probably not a very good post but I had to vent. I promise my next one will be better!

My Genious Experiance With Taking Down the Flag

This is going to be a very short post I can't think of what to write! Every Sunday I go to church at 1:00-4:00. After a good day of church I had to do my job of taking down the flag after church. So getting everything ready and taking down the flag I found out the Flag wasn't even there!!!! Some one must have forgotten to put the flag up that day. After pulling the flag rope back up I rapt it around so it wouldn't go flying loose all week. After you tie it up there is a lock box that you put over so no one can take down the flag without the key. I go to close it but it just wouldn't go!!!!!!!!!!! After about 10-15 minutes of pushing and slamming I finally realized the cover above for the rest of the rope (which is used to keep the rest of the rope from running wild) wasn't closed. So after I closed that, the lock box closed like a glove!!! This frustrated me so much because I had just wasted 15 minutes of my time laboring over that stinkin' lock box! Next time I will check to see if the flag is up there before I start taking it down. And if it is, I will close the cover above first before I start closing the Lock box!

P.S. (This has nothing to do with the paragraph above). Since the California school budget is so so so so so so terrible, the 7th grade doesn't have any field trips!!! My social studies teacher decided that since we are studying China, we could take a trip to China!!!!!!! Not! We are really just going down to China town in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, she chose a Sunday. So obviously I couldn't go because of my religion. It was this Sunday and according to everybody that went, it was a blast. My friends bought fire crackers, fireworks, Chinese swords, necklaces, and Ninja stars!! I was really down until one of my good friends Steve said that he bought me a Chinese sword!!!!!!! I thought that was really cool of him. This sword is a real sword that he got for $10.00!!!!!!! Mom said it has to absolutely be just for display. Miriam said John, are you really going to start collecting swords? Don't do it!! You already know, own, and talk about Lord of the Rings and weapons to much! Miriam wishes so much that I wasn't into Lord of the Rings and weapons. But in my defence, I wish she didn't like chick flicks and stupid Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and all those stupid old movies on TCM with that actor she is in LOVE with Kerri something. Blah! This turned out to be a pretty decent sized blog and I am signing off.

Martin Luther King Day

Monday was a pretty good day. I started out finishing watching Lord of the Rings Two Towers. I am also currently reading it to! Back to Monday, after watching one of the best movies I had some delicious pancakes made by Dad. After, Dad, David, and I played tennis (I got my butt kicked). Even though I didn't do so well it was still fun. After our exciting tennis match we rode our bikes to the store to get Klondike bars for lunch. For lunch we fired up the old grill and BBQ hamburgers and dogs.

The second half of the day we went to Lemon Park to play our famous game of croquet. This time I wanted to try something new and challenging, so I got to choose the course! At lemon park right next the memorial is a huge bowl of grass where water is supposed to drain into. I knew that was the perfect place to play. The key to making it was judging it right. You had to either not hit it straight at it and watch it go down or hit where it wouldn't fall down the hill! It was a very challenging course but there was one particular hole. This hole you either made on the first try or you never made it (very frustrating!). Mom was so frustrated that she ended just cheating on the hole and went to the next one. David just insisted that the reason he didn't make it was his ball was heavier than everyone else (David always has some excuse). But in the end we all still had fun!

After a fun day of playing sports we had dinner (I can't remember what) and watched the Lakers game. Before I went to bed, I read some of Lord of the Rings (of course!) and was out. Next time I have a break is next Thursday and Friday for semester break! The young men are having a video game night! (can't wait). Maybe that's what I'll write about next!

Sayng Good-Bye

Well today Andrea and Paul are leaving to go back to New York. Yesterday, everybody in the family came over and had a I guess, a "party." Everyone met over at 5:30 and went to Tommy's yumm! After, all the kids had a couple of rounds of around the world ping-pong. Although I didn't win, I came to the last round. Once we finished "pinging the pong", Walt, Brittany, David, and I played RISK. The best world conquest game ever made!! Whats even better is Lord of the Lord Rings RISK edition. Unfortunately, I had to go to dumb school the next day.

Today, I came home from school and went over to our Grandpas were we didn't have the most cheerful talk (especially for Andrea and Paul's last day). We talked about opinions on when and not to let people die in the hospital. Then we discussed my grandparents will (HOW FUN!!!). But to look at the bright side, Andrea and Paul will be back in March for our Brother Walt's wedding (a much more cheery discussion than the one I witnessed today.) Well I guess this is me signing of considering that I am being ordered to get off the computer and do my homework :(.
